Do you sometimes get stuck in the never ending mental loop of….
“I’m not good enough for this. I’m never going to make it. She’s doing so much better than me. Why can’t it be my turn? I just really suck at this game of life.”
Stop yourself. Flip that script. Would you tell your best friend those things? No. Absolutely not. So stop saying them to yourself.
Guess what? It is your turn. You just have to make the decision that it is and that no matter what happens you’re going to make it through to the other side.
Say it again… No matter what happens you’re going to make it through to the other side.
This took me a really long time to figure out. Like years. And I still struggle with it some days. I have to catch myself when I start to hear those thoughts and I remind myself, “Things are happening for you. You’re doing really great things and you’re helping so many people which is your ultimate goal in this life. Little by little all these pieces are adding up to some really amazing things.”
You also have to take a breath and realize that a lot of the people you’re comparing yourself to have been in the game for years and we all have struggles. We are all humans. Things don’t just happen overnight. Did we all start on the same playing field with the same opportunities? Nope, but don’t let that get you down. I’ve built all my businesses by being scrappy as fuck, believing in myself and using what pocket change I had. If I can do it, YOU can do it!
And FFS, Give yourself some grace when you’re setting the bar for yourself. You wouldn’t hold your friends to your impossible standards that you hold for yourself. Give yourself some grace.
